Technical Marketing Engineer

Location: Cambridge, MA

Technical Marketing Engineers at Devo have the impactful role of influencing top-line revenue through product evangelism, sales enablement, and the creation of technical and compelling content – just to name a few. This is an exciting role where technology meets marketing, you will be a highly valued member of the team working to ensure that the sales cycle is as short as possible. Job Responsibilities:

  • Enable the pre-sales team to sell more effectively by creating the compelling technical content they need (e.g. presentations, white papers, demos, etc.)
  • Educate and train the sales team to sell more effectively by translating technical product capabilities and mapping them to the Devo marketing message
  • Contribute and build out our competitive intelligence capabilities
  • Assist with ad-hoc requests from sales (e.g. RFIs, questionnaires, and other technical requests)
  • Support sales and marketing events (e.g. webinars, tradeshows, regional events, etc.). Some travel will be required.
  • Support product launch activities
  • Identify internal process and capabilities gaps and address them
  • Work closely with Product Marketing, Product Management, and the sales team to drive tangible results

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred
  • 4+ years of professional work experience in a similar or related position
  • Customer and field experience is desirable, but not required
  • Domain expertise and experience with security, IT operations, and log management technologies
  • Understanding of the challenges in Security and Data Operations within the enterprise

Senior Software Engineer - pure back-end for APIs, Web and Core Engine

What’s Devo’s challenge

We try to take Data Analytics to the next level.  Our platform can process data in real time, up to 150k events per second per node and we are trying to add it new features every month. We partner with top companies to enhance their business and operations helping them to gather and process more and more data in less time, while needing fewer resources.

What are the back-end challenges?

We have 3 main ones:

Web: Sustain and enhance our platform’s processes regarding user accounts, permissions, functionalities, etc.

Stream processing engine: we build our own Big Data API that can treat events real-time. We are also working on enhancing our Alerts and Reinjections so our clients can receive a message or trigger an internal workflow in case we detect an anomaly or enrich what they are storing but crossing events from other data sources. Make no mistake, this is not the typical API that just access a data base, writes something and then displays information, it goes far a beyond by trying to solve problems of concurrence and parallelism.

Core Engine: this is the heart of our platform. This team is responsible for the real-time collection and storage of data, in other words, they never see what they do, the can only time it and measure it. If you like to use complex algorithms, deal with large amount of unorganized data that needs to be treated and you like to optimize CPU’s powers, look no further.

What’s a day in back-end @ Devo:

  • Develop backend features focused on writing clean and reusable code mainly in Java but also in Kotlin in our core engine project and any new language that we might use.
  • Create and maintain unit tests for the corresponding tasks.
  • Work in a dynamic environment as a growing company needs, so communication duties are mandatory.
  • Plan programming projects by confirming program objectives and specifications. Verify program operation by confirming tests.
  • Work at the highest level of all technical phases of programming. Critically review all programs prior to implementation.
  • Conducts thorough problem analysis of technical system and application programs; documents findings and proposes problem resolution alternatives.
  • Comply with programming standards, company directives and legal requirements.

You will be part of a Research and Development department focus on our Big Data Platform. We try to take our platform to the next level of performance, every millisecond count! You will make our query engine faster so clients can find whatever needle they want in a data haystack.

What’s a day as Full-Stack @ Devo

Work close to the rest of the R&D teams (front, back, CloudOps, etc) to enhance the query engine making it able to run on more date, make it faster and more user-friendly, allowing users to use a drag & drop method instead of writing the actual query themselves. We don’t code in a specific programing language, we use whichever solves the problem better.

The QA Engineer is accountable for analyzing software functionality as well as designing and implementing test cases to ensure product quality. QA Engineers are involved in every stage of the development process, working hand-in-hand with the product and development teams.

What’s a day in QA:

  • Define test plans and test cases. Execute and automate test cases.
  • Understand requirements and features for risk-based testing. Work closely with product managers, developers and other engineers (cool ones).
  • Design and build end-to-end testing tools.
  • Bring new ideas to the team, analyze testing tools and methodologies to improve existing tools and processes
  • Automate test with Selenium, JUnit, and others.

Solution Engineers at Devo are responsible for providing world-class technical expertise and guidance to our customers through their journey with Devo. This is a hands-on technologist role where you are not just presenting slides, but actively engaging with prospects & customers to architect enterprise data solutions for the enterprise.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead customer discovery use cases and requirements workshops
  • Actively drive the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and advocate for Devo
  • Ability to work on multiple opportunities & POCs at the same time
  • Present roadmap, vision, proposed architectures and business outcomes to all levels developers, architects, CTO, CIO
  • Own and define technical strategy for accounts
  • Regularly participate in account penetration / success strategy planning, working with sales counterparts and solutions engineering management
  • Fluent with core differentiators across the competitive landscape
  • Deep knowledge of the technology ecosystem

Senior Software Engineer - Professional Services

Location: EMEA

The Senior Software Engineer will be a key contributor to the Professional Services Team. The individual will contribute to User interface customization and development, work on integration of data sources, and act as Second Level support for the Devo platform for users and channel partners.

Applicants with an analytical mindset, good programming skills, and knowledge of algorithms who are customer and results-oriented are encouraged to apply. Our software engineering team values team players who demonstrate accountability and leadership.

Requirements include a degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent, with +5 years of experience in software development.

Knowledge of Javascript, Python and Linux scripting, as well as the ability to implement algorithms, are important, as are familiarity with data architecture, data quality and data ingestion process design concepts.
Experience with Business Intelligence tools, Big Data technologies, project management and
Agile methodologies a plus. Requires excellent communications skills in both English and Spanish.

The Technical Trainer role is responsible for the initial training of our software in any of our new clients, reporting directly to the Training and Customer Support Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Helping to develop and deliver engaging training initiatives which match the needs of all employees across the company in USA driving continuous improvement and growth in line with the company strategy.
  • Design and creation of training material to assure our client has the right knowledge to be able use Devo’s software in the proper manner.
  • Additional responsibilities of this position go through to train end-clients and partners within the sales distribution channel.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical area (Computer Science, Engineering, etc.), or equivalent professional experience.
  • Professional experience conducting training courses related to IT environments is essential. It is desirable to have provided trainings related to programming languages, databases and Big Data environments.
  • Extensive or deep knowledge in some of the following programming languages: Python, Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS will be highly valued.

Sr. Software Engineer, Full Stack

Location: EMEA

The Software Development Engineer is part of the team that builds the product according to specifications. This role will be integrated into the web team dedicated to the creation of new features and maintenance of existing ones.

Technical Support Engineer

Location: EMEA

The Technical Support Engineer is part of the Customer Experience Team which helps our clients in case they have any doubt in the use of our software. The person will also escalate issues, when they are unable to solve them, and will be tasked with the collection of feedback on potential new features.

Responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshoot customer issues with complex software applications and recommend corrective action
  • Document customer information on recurring technical issues to support product quality programs and product development
  • Isolate problems between hardware and software and provide information to appropriate to the appropriate parties
  • Ability to work in a fast paced technical environment and support a product with frequent product releases and regular maintenance updates

Requirements:

  • GED or high school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ experience in software technical support, systems admin or similar role
  • Strong IT troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Experience with the following systems is a must: UNIX (Linux-Ubuntu). UNIX Regex and Windows and SQL knowledge (Command and log management background). Mac OS preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as deep technical product knowledge and expertise to respond to multiple customer issues to successful resolution
