What has changed with machine data analytics?
Businesses once collected a well-established set of logs for IT operations and security operations use cases from common sources such as servers and firewalls. But today’s cloudnative environments, which include ephemeral containers, public cloud services and on-premises workloads, span a much larger surface area and generate enormous volumes of machine data – much more than the historical standard dataset. Traditional data-collection tools struggle to keep pace with the volume and variety of data types, and they are not flexible enough to easily explore the data for answers to problems that are increasingly complex and unique.
